伯牙鼓琴，志在高山。自恃其良才，常思王者之器。梦中得一琴，弹奏之极妙，一曲终了，唯有一人起立鼓掌。问之，乃是琴瑟大师钟子期也。伯牙惭愧不已，遂投身钟子期门下，终身鼓琴不辍。
English translation:
Boya played the qin with the aspiration of reaching the highest peaks. Confident in his musical ability, he often thought of the musical instruments of the kings. In a dream, he obtained a qin and played it exquisitely, and at the end of the piece, only one person stood up to applaud.
